Drover Australian Cattle Dogs is a small breeding kennel just starting out on a farm in Minnesota. Dave and Christina Swanson’s cattle dog family is based on some very well-known and proven working and conformation pedigrees. Even the youngest pup, Pepper helps with the chores on the farm.
In October 2006 the Swanson’s attended their first Australian
Cattle Dog Club of America National Specialty held in Rochester, Minnesota. Hesitant to show
pups Cookie and Roxy, just 6 mos old at the time, they were entered at the
insistence of their breeder, Laura Mayo of FairDinkum. Relatively new to the
conformation ring; though learning quickly. Drovers Cattle Dogs did very well. Roxy was placed 2nd in the competitive 6-9 puppy class by Australian judge Connie Redhead. Not far behind was Roxy’s littermate Cookie placing 3rd in the class. Both girls also received compliments and placements in both the Australian property classes and Puppy Sweepstakes.
Plans for breeding Bess were unsuccessful last winter. The plan is to try
for another litter in 2007. Both Roxy, Cookie, and Puppy Pepper are PRCD A
(clear).
Meanwhile, Roxy and Cookie will be finishing their championships in the breed
ring and off to obedience, agility, and herding lessons.
